On Tuesday, Melle Music and I took a drive to Encinitas. Usually, when I do this drive I have to head straight to San Diego and cannot take time to just stop and enjoy the sites. Pacific Coast Highway has to be one of my favorite drives. Rob Crow was going to play at Lou’s Records for his the release of his new cd, Living Well, at 6 pm so we decided to head out early and explore. You never really get to enjoy a place unless you stop and walk around.
Our first stop was Ramos House Cafe in San Juan Capistrano. It is literally an old house on Ramos Street, which is one of San Juan Capistrano’s historical districts. I heard about it and then forgot about it and then, on the train to San Diego, I spotted it from the window and remembered how curious I was about it ever since. The food was pretty amazing. I had butternut squash ravioli with lobster and almonds and Melle had a crab cake hash dish. But everything else on the menu looked really good. Sometimes, I wish they would just have a tasting party so I could just try a little bit of everything. They also had a bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato sandwich that looked so yummy. My mouth is watering thinking about that food. As you can tell, I highly recommend taking a drive and trying out the food. We started to walk around but the rest of San Juan Capistrano is a bit too high end for my taste. However, as we were leaving we spotted the entrance way to Zoomars Petting Zoo. Check out their website. The petting zoo has been there for 30 years. It was pretty nice for a petting zoo though I did not do much petting of the animals since all they wanted were there lettuce and carrots were holding.
