We caught up with an old friend of mine, Nick, who I hadn’t seen in 6 years and
stayed with him in Encinitas. Karen and I used to come to this area when we were
in Colorado and it’s good to be back. Cardiff and Encinitas are so pleasent …
We arrived in San Diego County on Jan 5th to great waves and beautiful weather. Forgot to take pictures. (doh!) We camped on the bluff in Cardiff and pretty much surfed Cardiff reef, Swamis & Pipes for 4 days strait. We caught up with an old friend of mine, Nick, who I hadn’t seen in 6 years and stayed with him in Encinitas. Karen and I used to come to this area when we were in Colorado and it’s good to be back. Cardiff and Encinitas are so pleasent that you litterally have to keep asking yourself why you don’t live here… I’m still thinking about it. In general I feel that the area is really open and encouraging in all ways (especially creative) and that it would be much easier to pursue art in this type of environment.
But………I love Cape Ann. So I think I’ll stay there for now. Still the north east coasters could learn a lot from the laid back lifestyle of california. To relax and enjoy themeselves.
We came up to LA to meet our best friend Rob who flew in to climb with us for a few days and visit his brother. The past couple days we have been climbing in the LA area. After going on a goose chase we found some cool volcanic rock in the mountains off Mulholland Drive. Good fun for the day.
Karen bouldering at Mini Holland.
Tommorow we head to Bishop for 2 days to show Rob the Buttermilk boulders.
