“in this fleeting moment, what extravagant respite, as booming surf speaks it’s mystical passage across it’s undreamed depths”.
this delightful little “pocket park” overlooks the ocean in Laguna Beach. the town has long been a haven for artists and it shows, in little touches like this one.
We flew to San Diego……ate a delicious but astronomically overpriced hot dog (almost $20.00 and the cheapest thing we could get at the Hotel del Coronado!!) while..sitting on the beautiful beach in front of said hotel.
we rented a car and meandered up the coast highway, stopping at Encintitasand Laguna Beach (beautiful and warm),Cambria…(cloudy and cool),
…and Monterey and Halfmoon Bay, where we stayed at this funky old bed and breakfast (building on the left) before flying home from San Francisco. unfortunately we dropped the camera and lost the photo’s of the last half of the trip…but they’re still in my own memory bank!
we discovered the Paso Robles wine region which is just a half hour drive from the coast at Cambria. I would highly recommend it for the beauty of the area alone…gently rolling hills with old oak trees dripping in moss…never mind the bonus of great wine tasting! just a tip…if you ever see the Hahn Estates Wine label on store shelves, pick up a bottle. It’s very nice and considered to be an up and coming Califonia wine.
we walked California’s beautiful beaches every day and slept soundly every night. it was a great rest after the illness that brought our trip to Guatemala, Belize and Mexico to an abrupt halt.
we’re home now and impatient for spring to arrive. a few daffodils are blooming and we’ve planted primroses, so spring must be arriving soon…right?
