CARLSBAD —- Two construction workers were injured, one more seriously, today at two different job sites, a fire battalion chief said.

Both industrial accidents happened about 9 a.m., Battalion Chief Mike Kennedy said.

The first one happened at 8:58 a.m. at 1940 Levante St., he said. A 30-year-old man was shot in the right knee with a nail gun, Kennedy said. The man was taken by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas, he said.

The second incident happened right at 9 a.m. at College Boulevard and Cannon Road, Kennedy said.

A 25-year-old man, who was operating heavy machinery, had a 100 pound cylinder fall 5 feet onto him, he said.

He was taken by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, Kennedy said.

The conditions of the men later were not available.
