NORTH COUNTY —- Traffic was a bit lighter during this morning’s commute in North County, so the usual slowing wasn’t quite as bad on major highways.

Southbound Interstate 5 dipped into the teens about 7:30 a.m. in Encinitas along the coast and picked up speed again in Solana Beach.

Inland, drivers were almost making it through Escondido on southbound Interstate 15 before slowing to 30 mph at Felicita Parkway. Traffic was moving again at Lake Hodges before slowing through Carmel Mountain Ranch into Rancho Penasquitos.

The region’s east-west connector, Highway 78, was almost full speed in both directions.

The California Highway Patrol wasn’t reporting any major crashes in the North County.
