SAN DIEGO — A Carlsbad man pleaded not guilty to several burglary break-ins in the North County. The man landed in jail Tuesday, due to alleged DNA evidence extracted from cigarettes left behind at a pair of recent North County break-ins, authorities reported.Last week, criminalists connected 44-year-old Mark Stephen Rochambeau to a Dec. 1 smash-and-grab that cost an Encinitas clothing shop about $5,600 worth of merchandise, sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Serritella said.
Also, genetic evidence from another discarded smoke allegedly linked Rochambeau to a home invasion that occurred in San Marcos late last year, according to investigators. While searching the suspect’s home, deputies found property stolen during both burglaries, the sergeant said. The judge ordered Rochambeau’s face to not be revealed because of the on-going investigation.
