Man arrested in alleged sexual assaults
ENCINITAS — A man suspected of sexually assaulting two teenage sisters in Encinitas remained behind bars Monday afternoon at the Vista jail.

ENCINITAS — A man suspected of sexually assaulting two teenage sisters in Encinitas remained behind bars Monday afternoon at the Vista jail.

Sheriff’s deputies took Victor Manuel Plata, 23, into custody Sunday afternoon, said sheriff’s Sgt. William Dreyer.

Plata was being held at the jail on suspicion of sex with a minor and sex with a foreign object, pending possible arraignment today at the Vista jail.

His bail was set at $35,000. However, Plata was also on hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Dreyer said Plata has been living at the home with the teens, ages 16 and 18, and their mother. The alleged sexual assaults happened two weeks ago, investigators were told.
