RANCHO SANTA FE —- A fire that started in the kitchen of a Rancho Santa Fe home Sunday morning caused $250,000 in damage and possibly displaced two residents, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 10:06 a.m. in a single-story home on the 6000 block of El Circulo, Rancho Santa Fe fire department spokeswoman Julie Taber said. A preliminary investigation indicated the fire was sparked by an electrical problem, she said.
No one was home when the fire started, but residents arrived soon after and kept flames under control with a fire extinguisher until firefighters arrived, Taber said.
Firefighters kept the blaze contained to the kitchen and the fire did not cause much structural damage, though smoke damage spread throughout the house, Taber said.
No one was injured, she added.
