WATER WORKSHOP: The Olivenhain Municipal Water District is holding a free
water-efficient landscape workshop from 9 am-noon March 10 at the Encinitas
HOME/GARDEN SHOW: The Westward Expo’s 22nd annual Spring Home/Garden Show returns today through Sunday to the San Diego County fairgrounds with expert advice for homeowners and ideas for home renovation projects, decorating and landscape design. New this year at the five-acre show is an authentic Mexican Blue Agave garden, as well as the popular “Garden Masters” showcase of 21 gardens from San Diego-area landscapers. Seminars and roundtable discussions are scheduled. Topics range from “Top 10 Landscape Mistakes” to “Fundamentals of Creating Five Popular Landscape Styles.” Show hours are noon-7 p.m. today; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.ÝAdmission is $6; children under 12 are free. Free admission today for seniors. After 3 p.m., all tickets are $4. Web E-tickets are $4. The event is co-sponsored by the Santa Fe Irrigation District and the San Dieguito Water District. Reserve to (760) 632-4641. This workshop will cover:
- Landscape Design —- A general overview of how a landscape architect approaches a design for a homeowner.
- California Friendly Plants —- 25 common and useful plants that grow well in San Diego.
- Home Sprinkler Systems —- A look at major design and maintenance principles of overhead sprinklers and drip irrigation. Discover the right system for your home.
– Watering & Fertilizing —- Learn how to conduct a system test on lawn areas that will produce an estimated watering schedule.
