ENCINITAS — The City Council on Wednesday will consider awarding a construction contract to install 355 feet of sewer pipe from a fire station to a main line.
Fire Station No. 3, and dozens of homes west of Interstate 5 at Leucadia Boulevard, are not connected to sewer lines.
A $75,000 bid, from Don Hubbard Contracting Co., is part of an installation project estimated to total $102,000. That translates as $287 a foot to lay the pipe.
The installation would represent the first actual construction of a city program to replace fire stations in Leucadia, downtown Encinitas and Cardiff. The City Council meets at 6 p.m. at 505 S. Vulcan Ave.
