SOLANA BEACH —- The Theatre School @ North Coast Rep will present “Cinderella” at 7 p.m. March 29 and 30, 2 and 7 p.m. March 31 and 2 p.m. April 1 at the North Coast Repertory Theatre, 987 Lomas Santa Fe Drive, Suite D.

The play was adapted from the Grimm Brothers story by Theatre School Director Joe Powers. Sara Epstein of Carmel Valley will play Cinderella and actor/mentor Sherri Allen of Del Mar will play the stepmother. North Coast Rep Theatre School student Natty Zwail, a Del Mar resident and Torrey Pines High School sophomore who recently played Wellington Wolf in the school’s production of “Big Bad Wolf,” will return as the prince.

Rounding out the cast is Melanie Kaplanek of Carlsbad as Madrigal; Victoria Buchholz of Solana Beach as Eslanda; Ivanna Patton of Carmel Valley as the mother and Lady in White; Garrett Peterson of Rancho Santa Fe as the father; Eddie Benzoni of Solana Beach, Ross Simanteris of Solana Beach, Natalie Dorosewicz of Rancho Santa Fe and Tiffany Lehman of Carlsbad as the “figures in white”; Nick Barnes of Solana Beach as the footman and coachman; Sara Carr of Escondido as the narrator; and Eilee Bissell of Leucadia as the stepmother understudy.

The crew for the production includes: Rachel Epstein of Carmel Valley, stage manager; Amanda Cowles of Solana Beach, light operator; Eva Loeser of Rancho Santa Fe, sound operator; and Cameron Peterson of San Diego, running crew and narrator understudy.

‘Once Upon a Mattress’ to premiere

CARLSBAD —- Coyote Cavern Productions will present “Once Upon a Mattress” at 7 p.m. March 29 through 31 at Calavera Hills Elementary School, 4104 Tamarack Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A matinee will be presented at 2:30 p.m. April 1. The show is recommended for people 5 and older.

More than 100 children from third through eighth grade will be featured in the show, a collaboration between Carlsbad schools, volunteers and the Kids Are Worth a Million Committee. Tickets cost $8. ‘Will Rogers Follies’ continues

VISTA —- Rancho Buena Vista High School’s presentation of “The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Review” will continue March 29 through 31 in the theater of the school, 1601 Longhorn Drive. The musical, which profiles the life of humorist and cowboy philosopher Will Rogers, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 29 through 31. Spring Break Cheer Camp offered

CARLSBAD —- Carlsbad High School’s Lancer Cheerleaders will hold a Spring Break Cheer Camp for fourth- through seventh-graders from 9 a.m. to noon April 9 through 12 in the old gym of the school, 1 Lancer Way. Participants will learn the greatest cheers, stunts and dances; and perform a showcase for parents and friends on the last day of camp. Cost is $75. Preregistration is required. Playwriting contest announced

NORTH COUNTY —- The Broadway Theater in Vista has announced a youth playwriting contest for teenagers younger than 18.

The submission deadline is June 1 for the contest, which will award $500 to the winning playwright. A staged reading of the play will take place in November at the Broadway Theater in Vista. At least 50 plays must be submitted for the prize to be awarded and a play to be staged. Plays may feature human, animal or fantasy characters; must be new; must be able to be performed by eight actors or less; and must be a comedy or fantasy that does not contain any obscene language. For confirmation of the play’s receipt, entrants must provide an e-mail address.

RBV cheer squad workshops set

VISTA —- Tryout workshops for the Rancho Buena Vista High School Cheer Squad will be held April 23 through 26 starting at 4 p.m. in the campus quad. Tryouts will be held on April 27.
