Brian VanRiper is a 25 year old resident of Encinitas. In addition to being a full time student, traveling campaign staffer, and vocal advocate/critic of Iraq and troop policy, he also enjoys surfing and long distance running.

Brian moved to California in 2003 for the U.S. Marine Corps, and served in Iraq with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines. Following his Honorable Discharge in May of 2004, he began his relationship with California Young Democrats, where he serves today as Political Director.

He has worked for several Sacramento based political consulting firms, working in the field on a number of Democratic campaigns. This past cycle, he engaged in research for the California Democratic Party.

Today he works for the Democratic Party of Orange County as Deputy Press Secretary.

Brian grew up in Boston, and sites Tip O’Neal and John F. Kennedy as his role models. Brian is a proud member of the Democratic State Central Committee, and heavily believes in youth involvement in the Democratic Party.
