SAN DIEGO — Two brothers accused of running a marijuana-growing operation and chop shop out of their Encinitas home pleaded not guilty Monday to various charges, including cultivation of marijuana and possession of stolen property.

Brian Thomas Boyd, 22, and his 20-year-old brother Devin were originally arrested on drug charges last Tuesday after a raid at their Arroyo Drive residence.

They were subsequently released and rearrested on additional charges and held in lieu of $1 million bail each, said Deputy District Attorney Mary-Ellen Barrett.

On Monday, Judge David Szumowski reduced bail to $100,000 for each defendant and said the source of any bail funds would be scrutinized before being approved.

A status conference was set for Friday.

The brothers are charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and allegations that they had five guns in the home.

Both defendants are also charged with operating a chop shop and possession of six stolen vehicles, and Devin Boyd is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon — brass knuckles, Barrett said.

Among the stolen vehicles found at the residence was a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro taken from San Marcos, a 40-foot box trailer stolen from Solana Beach and a Bobcat skid steer loader taken from Escondido, authorities said.

More than $30,000 in cash was also found in the home, authorities said.

The Boyd brothers also had a neighbor’s mail and someone’s identification in their possession, Barrett alleged.

A readiness conference was scheduled for July 2 and a preliminary hearing for July 17.
