San Diego, CA — (SBWIRE) — 12/05/2006 — Melissa Michaels, an award-winning artist will officially launch her brand called Inpeloto and hold a fundraiser on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 5:00PM at Neshama Raw Organic Restaurant located at 698 North Coast Highway, Leucadia, CA 92024. It is a time to experience the art fusion, raise money to change lives. Inpeloto is defined as: Infinite, Peace, Love and Togetherness. Ms. Michaels has taken her newly created acronym and developed a company that comprises volumes of her poetry, jewelry line called Inpeloto Bella-integrating her love of poetry into her designs, active wear and Love Mugs™ which has quotes from her poetry books. Inpeloto, Inc. makes products with a conscience and is a voice to the world. Inpeloto is the new catchword that speaks volumes. This is more than a launch; it is also a fundraiser for the San Diego Center for Children. Proceeds will go to benefit the Center. They offer healing and hope for families in crisis, providing therapeutic and educational services in the least restrictive environment possible for at-risk children and youth who have emotional, behavioral and learning problems. She actively gives to various causes and is an activist. Her community and humanitarian involvement include supporting BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country, is an all-volunteer program operating under the auspices of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, the charitable, educational and humanitarian arm of the Screen Actors Guild. “I believe art can change lives. Kids who are involved in the arts are less likely to engage in risky behavior primarily because they have avenues to express themselves,” stated Melissa Michaels. She serves on the board of San Diego Center for Children. She now provides her line of Inpeloto clothing to Restore International an organization who has found audacious ways to restore justice to children and the poorest of the poor that rescues children from brothels in India and Africa.
Ms. Michaels received honorable mention on The Wall of Tolerance. She won the 2004 DIY Book Festival award for poetry winning over thousands nationwide. She is featured in Manchester’s Who’s Who Among Female Executives and Professionals, Metropolitan Who’s Who, 2005 Pulitzer nominee, received the San Diego Magazine’s 2006 Woman of the Year nomination and most recently featured in The International Who’s Who in Poetry.
