WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA forward Chase Budinger has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for November 13-19, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Budinger, a freshman from Encinitas, Calif., averaged 25.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of Arizona wins last week. He scored 32 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-6 from threepoint range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the 101-79 win over Northern Arizona. In the 102-87 win over New Mexico State, he posted 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
The 32-point effort against Northern Arizona is the seventh-best single-game effort by a freshman in Arizona history, and he is just the fourth Arizona freshman to score 30 or more points in a single game. For the season, Budinger leads Arizona in scoring, averaging 22.7 points per game.
This is the first weekly honor for Budinger and Arizona’s 67th Player of the Week all-time.
